Carrying on the mood of “summer” last week, I kept thinking of Okinawa. So the music of the week must have an Okinawa mood.

Recent years, singers from Okinawa become popular in Japan. Natsukawa Rimi(夏川里美) is one of stars. She was made famous with the song Nadasousou (涙そうそう/淚光閃閃) in 2001. The song was written much earlier in 1998, words by Moriyama Ryoko(森山良子) and music by another Okinawa band BEGIN. Motif behind the song was about remembrance of the late brother --- you can cry, you can remember the old beautiful days. After tears, live with courage for a brighter tomorrow.

I want to go back to the original version of the song. Listen to the performance by two original creators of the song.

  • Listening to the original singer's singing the song really touches heart in such typhoon night. Thanks a lot for finding the beautiful lyric of the song. When buying the CD, listening to it again and again, immersing myself into the soul of the music, I had never known that the lyric was whispering the emotions and remembrance of love and brotherhood. Just felt the singer was singing the song with all her emotion from heart --- voice was so pure, true that you can not help listen to it again and again... Am i a bit too emotional, maybe! But when we hear 卡拉絲唱的我親愛的爸爸, the similar touching comes... Thanks for always bringing joyful music, pictures and interesting subjects.

  • That's why I always want to go back to the original version, to explore the authentic value and emotion that the creator wanted to express. At the same time, I also like to seek for variations deriving from the original version, to see how creativity and fusions of new essences transform the musical moment into different space and time.
