手機存了幾首Nitin Sawhney的音樂，都是他帶著濃厚佛朗明哥兼印度風加電子混音的作品，那時特別被他跨界民族風又不失現代感的空靈旋律吸引。在2008年專輯《London Undersound》之後我就比較沒有再追蹤他的動態。

最近他的音樂又突然浮現在耳邊（我會有這種症頭......），忍不住回去把他的專輯又一張張聽，特別是經典的《Beyond Skin》。

欣賞的傾向和有共鳴的選擇好像會隨著時間轉變。大概已經很熟悉他在處理異國情調fusion的世界頂尖能力，這次回去聽，感官反而放大在他較為爵士、靈魂藍調、流行感的音樂。（後悔以前不知道在省什麼，沒把整張專輯都下載下來........）

以前就很喜歡的《Broken Skin》、《Sunset》等歌曲，這次再訪聽起來特別grooving，也認真聽了歌詞，他也是一位觀點明確、勇於發聲的音樂家。

Immigrant 的主題和歌詞帶著政治立場與人文關懷，但旋律超級流行樂感，搭上印度吟唱卻也可以這麼合拍，一切就在他的鋼琴伴奏與弦樂聲中融合起來了。

有些歌曲，改動編曲之後，整個感覺進到不同世界。像是《London Undersound》裡的《Distant Dreams》，原本版本的巴西風，是混過華麗爵士感的拉美嘉年華舞感調調。換成不插電版的原味，則是清澄的Bossa Nova。

是有種越成熟而回歸簡單的轉變嗎？他回到他自己最擅長的鋼琴、吉他、tabla作為人聲的托襯，讓動聽音樂中流瀉出的才華更為直接精萃。

2011年專輯《The Last Day of Meaning》中的《Daydream》，依舊有《Koyal》（Songbird）那樣的懷舊哀愁，負責敘說旋律與傳達情感的改成優雅的banari笛。

2013年的專輯《ZeroOne》，某種程度是種與「數位/0與1」對話的想法，把以前的一些作品做了重新編曲，以全然unplugged的方式演奏，整個曲風輕盈了起來，更輕鬆、更細緻地與聽覺感受互動。錄音現場與合作樂手透過排練，然後以如同現場演奏的方式一氣呵成收錄。

這張專輯中加入的四首新創作裡面，他和Joss Stone合作的《I Ask You》讓人驚艷。這首幾乎沒有以前認知中的Nitin Sawhney元素，硬要說的話大概是tabla鼓、和聲吟唱、印度笛有一點點影子，但幾乎隱入背景，是首適合在秋冬小酌時聆聽的舒心歌曲。
