這是一首相當經典的歌曲，但我卻在最近才發現它。
它的旋律單純，不斷重覆。歌詞盡是詩意盎然的字眼、描繪著一種「羅曼蒂克」的景象（意思是，聽了半天聽到很多單字卻沒辦法一下聽出整句話和整段歌的意義）。透過沙啞、慵懶、刻意淡化情緒般的嗓音和唱腔傳達出來。
稱它經典，是因為隨便wiki、google一下，都跑出一大串有名的名字，從流行樂手、爵士樂手到歌劇名伶，翻唱版本超過80首。近年最有名的翻唱算是Sting 搭配電影天羅地網The Thomas Crown Affair重拍而製作的版本。Sting這版的風光，除了他自己的才華和皮爾斯·布洛斯南電影演出話題性加持之外，主要還是當年原版早就墊高的份量。
這首 The Windmills of your mind是當年1968年的奧斯卡最佳電影歌曲，由法國作曲家 Michel Legrand，和夫妻檔 Alan and Marilyn Bergman撰寫歌詞（超經典「往日情懷」The Way We Were作詞人），讓它大受歡迎的是歌手Noel Harrison，僅僅2分20秒的演唱，卻傳唱至今。
